Question: Are you a locally owned business?
Answer: Yes. Scott and Laurie Stollenwerk, the owners of Visiting
Angels of Waukesha County have been members of this community
for a long time. Scott grew up in Kewaskum, and Laurie grew
up in Waukesha. Our children attend school in Wauwatosa and
Brookfield.
Visiting Angels is an active member of the
Pewaukee Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.
Question: Are your caregivers CNA’s?
Answer: Many of our caregivers are CNA’s or have other
credentials. However, we feel that it is even more important
that all of our caregivers be experienced. Many other agencies
will “train” caregivers by showing them videos;
we require that every one of our Visiting Angels caregivers
have at least 2 years of local verifiable experience, and excellent
references.
Question: Do your caregivers speak English?
Answer: All of our caregivers speak, read and write English.
We also have many caregivers that are multi-lingual, so please
let us know if you would be more comfortable with a caregiver
that also speaks another language in addition to English.
Question: I only need occasional help, can
you provide that?
Answer: With our ‘Angel Calls’ program we are able
to provide one of our on-call caregivers for those who need
occasional assistance.
Question: Do you have a minimum number of
hours like other agencies?
Answer: We recognize that some people really do need service
everyday, but a 3 hour shift is more than is required. When
appropriate, we do everything that we can to schedule shifts
with a one hour minimum.
Question: What about taxes and insurance
for the caregivers?
Answer: Our caregivers remain our employees the entire time
that they are in your home. This means that you can be confident
knowing that our caregivers are completely covered by our worker’s
compensation and liability insurance policies and that all
legally required taxes are paid for and handled by Visiting
Angels.
